Frome Symphony is an exciting amateur orchestra for
Frome (Somerset, UK) and the surrounding area, established in 2001.
With its emphasis on enjoyment for players and audiences, Frome Symphony
has already attracted over 50 members; sold out every performance;
participated in large-scale community projects for the Frome Festival
and enjoyed an active social life.
Frome Symphony was founded by Cambridge graduate - and professional
musician - Stephen Marquiss, and has been warmly welcomed by the local
community.
They enjoy an active concert schedule, welcoming soloists from within
its members and as of 2006, a second conductor in David Hynds, a founding
member of the orchestra and graduate of the University of Surrey.
Frome Symphony presents three concert performances every academic
year, tackling a wide range of repertoire from the mainstream classical
to new works written especially for the orchestra.
