Frome Symphony at the Frome FestivalFrome Symphony's Frome Festival Concert

The Frome Festival has always presented Frome Symphony with the opportunity to impress a large audience with its maturity of playing. This year was no different, with a world premiére, a talented soloist, as well as the orchestra showing its ensemble skills.

Gemma Mounty, principal clarinettist, gave a thrilling performance of Weber's sumptuous Clarinet Concerto. Principal Guest Conductor, David Hynds, directed the world premiére of his latest work; Three Ellendig Gelegenheid for Orchestra - a work which was steeped in misery, but which the audience enjoyed.

The orchestra also played Mendelssohn's Trumpet Overture, and music from Grieg's Sigurd Jorsalfar. Frome Symphony's brass and wind sections broke off to perform some short works by Frescobaldi and one of the many Bach children.

The Frome Festival Concert, as always, was well attended, and those who managed to book their tickets thoroughly enjoyed the experience that Frome's orchestra brings every year to the Frome Festival.
